The Lugano e valli region offers countless beautiful hikes in idyllic landscapes, by the lake or in the mountains.

Hiking

San Salvatore – Paradiso
Duration: 1 hour 50 minutes / Distance: 3 km
The modern cable car takes you up to San Salvatore, Lugano's local mountain. After enjoying the breathtaking views, you can hike leisurely down to Paradiso.


Montagnola – Carona
Duration: 4 hours / Distance: 9 km
This hike through idyllic countryside passes many sights, such as the house in Montagnola where Hermann Hesse lived for 12 years, the Santa Maria Assunta di Torello monastery, or the Parco Botanico San Grato in Corona.


Monte Brè – Gandria-Castagnola
Duration: 2 hours / Distance: 6 km
The train takes you up Monte Brè, where breathtaking views of Lugano and the lake, stretching all the way to the Alps, await you. After descending to Gandria, the final part of the hike leads directly along the lake to Castagnola.


Monte Tamaro – Monte Lema
Duration: 5 hours / Distance: 13 km
This challenging hike is one of the most beautiful ridge hikes in Switzerland. You will be rewarded with stunning views of Lake Maggiore, the Centovalli, the Maggia Valley, the Verzasca Valley, Locarno, and Bellinzona.
